Subtractive Plaster Sculpture

This is a glimpse of the work ART 3D has been doing on plaster sculptures. The end result is only part of the journey. Every student built a cardboard mold and poured wet plaster into it. Then the mold was removed and the student had to remove material in order to create a simplistic form.

Art 3D is starting to work on wire sculptures that show movement. We are using chicken wire and other types of wire!! Very excited to see what comes from this unit!!!

Joel Schoon-Tanis guest artist visit

We had the pleasure of working with Michigan artist Joel Schoon- Tanis last week. It was an awesome experience and I think I can honestly say we all learned a lot.

I wanted to post this to remind everyone about what bullying can do to a person. Lets have a great year.

Summertime

The end of the year is finally here.  I feel like it came really fast.  I want to thank all of you for a wonderful year.  I was very lucky to know you and spend time with you in the art room!  Have a good summer and make art!

Day 1 Wheel Throwing. Such talent!!

 These are the brave.  The students who geared up, aproned up (is that a word?) and volunteered to try the wheels first.   They did very well!

Giuseppe Arcimboldo  (1526 or 1527 – July 11, 1593) was an Italian painter best known for creating imaginative portrait heads made entirely of such objects as fruits, vegetables, flowers, fish, and books – that is, he painted representations of these objects on the canvas arranged in such a way that the whole collection of objects formed a recognizable likeness of the portrait subject.

Intro to Digital Art- Urban Farming Project

Students looked at different ways society treats gardens and non-traditional gardening techniques such as growing a garden inside of a house or in your front yard.  Using this idea as inspiration, students were asked to create a digital image that experiments with bringing the outdoors inside.  Or covering a man-made surface with natural elements
